San Froilan Festival, hoisting of the banners, Leon Spain
Sunday September 30, 2012, and we had planned a day off from the camino to visit some of the sites of Leon, we wanted to see the Cathedral! To our surprise we happen to be in the city during the San Froilan Festival. I don’t have a lot of information, but from the reading the festival is of regional importance, we were present during the hoisting of the banners a parade where each municipalities flag is presented. There are many people in traditional dress, playing traditional instruments and dancing. We were lucky one lady in a traditional dress spotted the Canadian Pilgrim Badge on my camera bag and came over to explain, as best she could the festival! More images…..

it really was fun, we feel so lucky to have been in the city of Leon during the festival, everyone so friendly, it truly was amazing!
