we were first attracted to the wine store by the great graphics both out front and inside the store. But sitting outside looking in we couldn’t decide if it was a wine store or a tapas bar, you see there were shelves of wine, spirits and food, but there were also tables set for service. We decided to go in and check out the store, we ordered a glass of wine and a couple of tapas. Before long were “chatting” with the help of our smartphone translator to Manuel Tirado Marín, of Lugar del Wines, and we were coming back to do some more photos.
Wanda, Calgary based relationship coach. I love her motto: Life might not be the party we expected; but while we are here we might as well dance.
Knowing we need to make a change, figuring out what that change should look like, and then making that change is practically impossible for most of us. I will be honest with you, bad habits seem so much easier to stick with than good habits, or is it just me?
We have all heard that working with a coach is a great way to help figure out priorities; determine the change that would yield the best results, and keep us accountable to our goals. Wanda works with people making relationship changes and people wanting better relationships.
Thanks Wanda, I going dancing!!!
Dawn, well known in the running community; she is an active runner, blogger, and contributor to Flickr. Not only does Dawn spend a great deal of time running and training for her triathlon she as a great volunteer for the Calgary Road Runners, and the Calgary Half Marathon. Dawn is also a proud Grandmother.
I wouldn’t normally comment on someone’s age, but Dawn has proudly announced her 59’s birthday and I have to say if I look that good at 59 I will shout it from the roof top as well!
I am proud to be counted among Dawn’s friends, and thrilled she gave me the opportunity to work with her on new portraits. Thanks Dawn, I hope 2014 is a wonderful year for you.
Luke Salt President of Evolution Tickets Inc. their motto “Any ticket, Any time, Any where” and have access to hundreds, if not thousands, of choices for event tickets across the U.S. and Canada. Not just sporting events, tickets for Broadway or Vegas!
Since joining BNI, Rocky Mountain Thunder he has helped several of the members acquire great tickets or sporting events, and concert. I enjoyed meeting with him, working on his portraits; it gave me a chance to visit and learn more about his business, and his goals.
Next time you need event tickets think of giving him a call.
December of 2013 was a busy month, so busy that in order to enjoy the season’s festivities, visiting the family and friends that I had to drop a few things off the “to do” list. One of those things was blogging, so I have a few posts to catch up on. I had several portrait sessions, and a few Calgarians, entrepreneurs to introduce you to.
The first of these business portraits sessions was for Luke, of Evolution Tickets is a full service brokerage in the secondary ticketing market, “Any Ticket, Any Time, Anywhere” they will do what they can to get great premium tickets for high demand events including sporting events across Canada and the U.S., broadway events in NYC, or concerts in Las Vegas. I would highly recommend giving them a call if you want tickets for an event, they will get those tickets for the best price. It was great met Luke, while working with him I learned about his business and his commitment to customer service.
I met Luke through the BNI, Business Networking International, Rocky Mountain Thunder Chapter, they have networking meetings Thursday morning at the Blackfoot Inn. A lot of members in the group have been able to acquire tickets with the help of Evolution Tickets, and recommend his service; give him a call next time you are looking for tickets. For information on Rocky Mountain Thunder and how they can help you grow your business check out the BNI RMT facebook page
I am going to get back into the routine of blogging every 2 or 3 days, I am planning on catching up on more portraits over the next couple of weeks, introducing you to some other Calgary Businesses, but I will try to show you a little more of Calgary as well. By the end of Febuary Bill and I will be hitting the road and doing some travelling, so the blog posts will include our travels and the places we see and the people we meet. 2014 is going to be an exciting year….
I met Charles Fair through BNI, Rocky Mountain Thunder he was looking for Business Portraits to use on his website, as well as his LinkedIn etc. I packed up the studio and travelled to Charles’s office to do the business portraits, he has this great red/burgundy colored wall that looked wonderful, we also used another wall, you know the colour, average off white office wall color, I am glad Charles choose to use this one, it really does set the portrait apart from the normal.
Now a little about Charles…..
Charles Fair has been a lawyer for over twenty years, since 1992. He provides a range of legal services to individuals and business, representing clients who are in conflicts, or hoping to avoid conflicts, regarding business, family law, divorce, personal injury and estate matters.
Charles works closely with his clients to achieve the best resolution possible in each case. Building his mediation practise, he wants to help his clients find a solution appropriate for everyone involved and that builds relationships, in a timely and cost efficient way. Charles understands that sitting down together, with a structured plan, and to estabilish common ground and a goal to resolution, makes sense to everyone. Mediation is his first choice in resolving disputes, but not his only skill.
One of the best parts of being a photographer who specializes in Business Portraits is the interesting people I meet. Spending about 45 minutes in the studio or on location, the time goes by as I learn a little about each person. Most busy professionals are reluctant to take this kind of time out of their busy schedules for photos, but I have found that if we can spend a little time together, people start to relax and their personality shows through. It is hard to set that 2 x 3 image Linkedin image apart from all the others, but it is possible.
Thanks Charles for giving me this opportunity to work with you.
Anyone who knows me, knows I don’t have a pet, and has heard me say I don’t do pet photography. It isn’t that I don’t like animals, I do, but I have trouble feeding and taking care of myself, so keeping a pet would be unfair! I don’t even mind including family pets in a family portrait session. I have just not spent a lot of time photographing pets, that I am not sure I could get it right as a professional pet photographer.
A couple of weeks ago I was asked to do business and environmental portraits for MRI Auto Care who area updating their web presence, and Frodo is a big part of the customer service team! It was great to meet and work with everyone over there, and I will be posting some of the other images in the near future.
I will leave you this week with the calm and quiet face of Frodo and wish you a wonderful weekend.
I met Ginger at through BNI, at the Rocky Mountain Thunder Meeting, we talked about doing Business Portraits, we wanted to do images that would cover both of her business interested, and we had a lot of fun with different background, and clothing changes! Ginger is an owner and operator of a UPS Store and is a Arbonne dealer.
The two business are quite different, the image above is the set up for final images, and change of cloths, we had great fun, more fun that some of the usual business portraits!
One of the great things about being a member of the BNI Rocky Mountain Thunder is the 7 am meetings, okay, that isn’t the best part! The best part of being a member is the people I have met. One of those great people is Richard Dansesreau, of Lad’s Auto, who is currently the President of our chapter. Dedicated to building the chapter with people who believe in the giver’s gain philosophy he is works hard to keep the meetings organized and on track; starting on time, finishing on time, and getting all the business done.
I have had my vehicle to Lad’s Auto, and I was impressed with the service. The service techs at the front desk are friendly, helpful and answered all my questions, the shop was so clean you could eat off the floor. They are licensed and authorized to perform regular scheduled maintenance on all new vehicles, and will identify all warranty work that need to be done.
It was great getting the opportunity to have Richard in the Studio, it gave us a chance to chat, and I learned that Richard is married, has two kids, coaches hockey, and sits on the advisory board at SAIT for the automotive program. He is one busy man!
Trust Richard with your automobile, call me if you need business Portraits!
Peter Huszar, owner and operator of Creations by Casablanca, loves working with his clients to decorate their home .
I had quite the chat with Peter when he visited my home. We are in the process of getting new windows, and some of the curtains and drapes need updating. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted, Peter was able to show us several options and I am looking forward to new blinds!
