Galeries Lafayette, Paris France

One of the best time about visiting Paris is the wonderful architecture.  Here the beautiful cupola of the Galeries Lafeyette, a shopping store in the fashion district. I love the beautiful lines, gorgeous detail, it is hard to believe that it is department store, with cloths, watches, bedding, and just like other department stores there is a food court on the top floor.

Through the passage Richelieu to the Louve, Paris France 

We were walking to the Louve, this wasn’t our first visit, but it was the first time through the Passage Richelieu, and the sunlight off the glass pyramid was beautiful the shadows creating a graphic on the floor. The juxtaposition of old stone passage, with the modern glass pyramid, and another old building behind it, gives a sense of walking around Paris where old and new architecture sit so comfortably together.

Water Wheel; Minter Gardens, Chilliwack BC 

Happy Tuesday to everyone, for my fellow Canadians I hope you had a great long weekend. It was great to have an extra day for family and friends, and to use it as needed. In Calgary we had great weather, so we got a little gardening done; some flowers, lettus, peas and tomatoes planted.

This image was taken last summer at the Minter Garden, Chilliwack BC, one of my favourite gardens, I believe it is about 32 acres and I would recommend a sunday visit.

Red Poppy

with spring finally here I can hardly wait for the flowers to bloom. I am working through some old files, and finding some flower images to satisfy my needs for flowers! I love the red poppy. They are delicate, the color is rich, and they seem to dance with the slightest breeze.

Calgary Stampede, Midway Rides 

For many in Calgary it might be a little early to start planning their Stampede activities, but for the many volunteers the work on this year’s stampede started last September. The schedule of events that will take place down at the grounds is jam-packed with activities. The midway will be filled with rides, this is one of my favourite places to visit.

This year the parade will be exiting, Astronaut Chis Hadfield will be Parade Marshall, and parade morning is always exciting. about 350,000 people line the parade route, and the parade is two hours long, one of my favourite days of the year!   So with all this thought about Stampede I am exploring some of the old images taken in previous years and planning my visit to the stampede this year!

Walking downtown in the morning it is easy to hurry by the quiet beauty as we go about our business, but is was hard to miss the bright colourful LRT station on 6 St. SW. With the sun shining through the glass above it was wonderful.
I love the way the city planners, the architects and artists collaborate to bring beauty to our lives.

Rue de la Citadelle, St. Jean Pied de Port, France. Camino Frances 

St. Jean Pied de Port, France. The beginning of the Camino France for many pilgrims walking to Santiago de Compostella Spain. One of the many images, representing one of the many moments along our journey that is still very important to me. As it is the beginning of the camino for so many pilgrims it is a little town that many remember fondly.

Recently a fellow Calgarian sent an email, interested in learning more about the camino, and our experience, it is wonderful to visit those memories again, and to think that someday Bill and I will go back.

On a complete different note, this is one of the images listed with Alamy, an online stock agency, that has licensed recently.  While I haven’t been notified of the name of the publication, but I have learned from the sales contract that the image will be published as a 2 pages spread, for a travel guide with a print run of up to 100,000.  While this isn’t my first sale through the stock agency, it still feels awesome to have someone buy and use one of my images!

Jillian 

Yesterday the sun was shining, it looks like the nice weather has finally come to Calgary, and I hope it lasts through the summer!  The hard part is spending time in the basement studio, processing images, and getting my work done when I really want to be outside.

Working with Jillian does make it easier to be in the basement, she is beautiful and therefore her images are also beautiful!

Today is going to be another wonderful day, but I am determined to get her photo package done, so today is a promise of things to come.
