Wurzberg Germany, St. Kilian Pieta

One of the alters in the St. Kilian cathedral, one of the many churches in Wurzberg.  The principal work of German architecture of the 11 and 12 century, it is the fourth largest Romanesque cathedral in Germany.  The interior was decorated with very ornate Baroque era stucco from the early 1700’s, was burned out in the booming of 1945, the rebuilding was completed in 1967.

This altar of Pieta (c1410) was acquired in 1966.
