Taleeta, waiting to smile……..

She’s a pretty girl;                                                                                                                                                                                                              her eyes smile just like she does:                                                                                                                                                                                     softly and often,

haiku by Ociel Guadalupe.

While Taleeta was not smiling in this picture she did smile often and easily during our photo session, and the haiku by Ociel seemed appropriate. Poetry can be an inspiration for photography, or a photo can be an inspiration for a poem,  either way there does seem to be a complementary aspect.

Taleeta, Studio 35 Model Shoot-out

Taleeta, at Studio 35

I belong to a photoclub in Airdrie, sponsored by Studio 35, Adam Kuzik is the photographer for the studio is doing lots of interesting things to promote  photography in the area. On Tuesday we had a “Shoot-Out”.  Taleeta is a young, up and coming model who needed some practise, so we set up the lights and took turns, each of the photographers having 15 mintues to work with her.  Adam was there to help Joanna Kemp did the make-up and it was a lot of fun. You can check out all the photos at Airdire Photography club.

I had the pleasure of working with:

International Model: Fredau Hoekstra (www.fredauhoekstra.co.uk)
Hair & Makeup: Mallory McGowan (www.mallorymcgowan.com)
Wardrobe: Maria Serpico
Location: Studio 35 Photography – As part of a Studio 35 / Airdrie Photography Club workshop (www.studio35photo.ca)
It was a great learning experience, and this is just one of the many great photos taken that day. Adam Kuzik help with the light set-up and we couldn’t have achieve this kind of success without him. Thanks so much everyone for a great day.

Penny, Paul and Family

I have known Penny for quite some time now, at least casually, through the Running Room, and while I haven’t been running much these days, we have staying in touch.  A couple of months ago now Emily arrived onto the family scene.  She is a gorgeous little baby,  and has been the subject of some portratis posted some time ago.  On Saturaday I had the pleasure of doing family pictures for the whole family!

It was a wonderful way to start the weekend, getting to meet and take photos of Penny’s family. I will be posting more family pictures, and portraits of the boys during the week!

Kaley in front of the Christmas tree,

Kaley was one of the models at the house on Suday for our model session, it was great fun, and we learned a lot about doing portraits on location.

Rachel, and the Sunday Model Shoot

Rachel was over to the house on Sunday, along with her mom  and friend Kaley.  I owe Kaley and apology, I for some strange reason kept wanting to call her Carly, so sorry Kaley.  Along with the three ladies were 10 other photographers – yup 11 of us shooting portraits in the house!  We set up lights in the basement with a black backdrop, in the dinning room in front of a very large landscape painting, the living room in front of the window and the christmas tree, and in one of the bedrooms in front of the small white christmas lights that you see here.

The Photographers were all pretty patient taking turns at each of the mini light studios with the ladies. There was a wealth of knowledge in the “rooms” and at time it was a little like the blind leading the blind, but all in all we got some great images.  I will be posting more of my photos as I find time to process them, I seem to have over extended my time commitments this week, and I am having trouble finding time at the computer!

For those that might be interested I used the Florabella black and white champagne action for the black and white conversion.  I like the tone it gives to the photograph.

see more of Rachel‘s photos from the model shoot.

Baby Emily; Slide show posted on Flicker

Baby, Emily, photos are finally finished, I have posted a slideshow on flicker .  If it wasn’t so cold out I would deliver a dvd of the imags, but I have decided that it would be best to curl up by the fire and have a glass of wine………

sweet sleeping newborn emily
