My first public slideshow – Carly and Friends

check it out on and let me know what you think –

One of my all time favourite silhouette pictures.  While we were travelling in Greece, we spent part of a day wandering around Epidaurus.  The acoustics and sound in the amphitheater is amazing.  If you look closely there is a lady standing in the centre of the circle, near centre frame.  She is telling a story, one of the great Greek myths, she is only using her normal speaking voice and we could hear her perfectly, as if she was sitting at our dinner table talking to us!

Music and the steel guitar

A painter paints pictures on canvas.  But musicians paint their pictures on silence.  ~Leopold Stokowski

Last February I was visiting in Yuma Arizona, one night there was a group of people sitting around a campfire, the musicians filled the hills with music!  Watching this gentleman play, the steel picks on his fingers and listen to the crisp clean notes and lively music was joyous. It was a great evening.

Reno at sunset

The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the                                                 rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire.  ~Sharon Ralls Lemon

Here is one more photo of Carly’s little Reno, I am almost done processing her images, this is just a taste of the photos in the short time spent with  Carly and her friends!   He is such a cute little colt, I am sure Carly will enjoy working with him as he grows up!

Aiden and Adam

You will always be your child’s favorite toy.  ~Vicki Lansky

Aiden’s first birthday here getting a cuddle from his dad. Happy Birthday Aiden I hope you had a great day, your mom and dad did everything to make it special, and I was so thrilled to be part of your day.

I have added this photos to the Photofriday challenge #90 if you care to go and have a look at the other enteries, and cast a vote! There are a number of great photographers that take part in this challenge each week.

This photo was entered into the I Heart Faces photo challenge –

Carly and Lily

“Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to.”
                                                                     Alfred A. Montapert

Carly loves her pets, and her puppy Lily is no exception.  A beautiful, energetic pet that is also a very good friend with the horses!

Carly and friends Daisy the Donkey, and Keira

Daisy likes her treats just like all the rest, but she is patient and waits her turn, well at least she did the night I was there!

Carly’s friends, Keira and Reno

Animals are such agreeable friends – they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms –                                                                                                                                                                            George Eliot

I am still working on Carly’s photos, unfortunately there is only so much time in a day. It is wonderful to have these lovely animals to look at, and photos to post, as I try to keep up with the wordpress post a day challenge!

I used Flora Bella actions to give the image a warm, slightly aged look. They have great actions, on their blog they use mostly children photos for subjects, but I find they work well in a numer of different occassions and subjects.  They are quick to apply, and easy to use, in that the group can be opened and each layer viewed,  masks can be applied to any or all layers to enhance or modify the affect and personalized for the image I am working on.

At this point I am trying to decide if I should clone out the purple rope, and your thought would be appreciated. It would be a lot of work, but I think it would be worth it.

Carly and Grand Torino

The horse is God’s gift to man.
                                                                                                                                              Arabian Proverb

Carly and her colt.  The colts official name is Grand Torino, but known to family and friends as Reno. Reno is friendly and a nibbler, and he likes his treats.  If I stood in one spot for too long he would come over to see if I had treats, or something to nibble on at least!

Carly and friends

Here is Carly, with her mare and colt. They are such a beautiful color.  The evening light was a great time of be visiting and taking pictures.
