Atlas at Rockefeller Center NYC

Atlas just out side the doors of the Rockefeller Center, 5 ave between 50 st. and 51 st. New York Center, is in the foreground, St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

I have followed the tutorial for creating black and white images on the Photoblog challenges website, and I am quite happy with the way the image turned out – blacks are solid, but there is still definition in the shoulders of the statue. The sky was quite blown out, so there is no detail in the sky, but I think good definition in the Cathedral.

I also found inspiration with Marina Chetner, and a couple of post she has done recently.

  1. The image looks fantastic – the strength of the black with a bit of fish eye lens is so effective! Thanks for the ping back – I am so glad it has inspired you. I am just using the retouch menu on my Nikon though will delve into proper post processing soon 🙂
