Ivy and Stone in Ireland

This photo was taken in Ireland a number of years ago, on a cool and foggy day at the site of a very old, and fallen church. The old walls covered with ivy with Bill standing just outside the walls framed by the window. The original photo taken in color just seemed to miss the feeling/mood of the site, and I wasn’t sure what to do about with it.  The photo has been sitting in my archive since, patiently waiting for inspiration.

This week the technique challenge at photoblog challenge was to produce an image in black and white with “grain”.

After converting the photo using an adjustment layer and adding a couple of  layers; the first a layer being a texture layer from Kim Klassen’s collection, the second, a layer using the grain filter, I finally have an image that reflects the grey mood of the site, and the weather on the day of our visit.
