Reflections of the Past: Barrel Maker at the Tarragona Maritime Museum

We were strolling around the Tarragona Harbour when we found the Maritime Museum.  In it a few interesting displays and displays about the role the port played in this history of the city. Among the displays we watch a brief video about how the old wooden barrels were made. We can see a reflection of the video and the barrel maker in the window of the display. Through the window we can see all the tools he would have used, as the video plays and shows us how those tools were used.

I read “Chasing Reflections” by Eli Reinholdtsen published by Craft and Vision quite some ago, it was full of inspiring photography and lessons on using reflections to tell a story. I really should re-read it, but for now I keep my out for interesting reflections that combine two images in one photo.

  1. Very nice! You’re right, reflections do give opportunities to tell more than one story at once, and I think this is especially effective when they tell two aspects of the same story in the same picture.
