Week 11 Mar. 9, 2020 Photography

abandoned

Last week’s 52frames photo challenge was abandoned, a tough one in the middle of the city, only because we haven’t been getting out for our long walks, and when we do it is around the neighborhood, the same beautiful walk along the Bow River. It’s a great walk, but mid-day same old walk has left me a little uninspired lately. What do you do for inspiration, have you got any suggestions for me, I would love to hear from you.

This photo is of the old white barn not far down the street, in Inglewood, a little internet research tells me that it was built in 1906 as a livery stable and it is now only used for storage. The building isn’t completely abandoned, but with it’s weathered paint, padlocked doors, and trees growing up near the foundation it does have that abandoned look and would serve the purpose for my weekly challenge.

In other news, I have been spending time sifting through old photos, cleaning up digital folders, organizing a new hard drive and my Lightroom Catalogue. All this has given me time to experiment with different creative processes in Photoshop, working with layers, and actions. Here are three images from our trip to Maui two years ago. I miss the warm weather and sandy beaches, and I miss the early morning walks.

My favorite is Bill walking on the beach, each image was taken at a different time of day, and each image with it’s different light has quite a different feel. Which one is your favorite?

All for now, I would love to hear from you, comments are appreciated.
