I returned to work; a busy week at the office, means less time for photograph I am afraid! The days are getting longer, there is a little more light visible in the sky during my walk into work and on the way home. This week the light through the windows was the most fascinating.
My goal this week is daily posts on instagram, and a different route to and from the office to see what new views I can find.
It has been raining for the last two days and when it isn’t raining there is a misty fog that hangs in the air. We expected the weather to be less than ideal, after all it is winter here, so we were prepared with rain coats, hats and umbrellas. Amsterdam is still a beautiful city.
I have already lost one hat, the wind took it for a ride, and it went sailing down the canal!
We will not be deterred, or cold or wet, I bought new hat, and we continued to explore the city, taking photos along the way.
One last picture of the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, this time the exterior – I wanted toget in close enough to eliminate a lot of the background, yet still show off it’s unusual shape, to make the photo more about the geometry, and the lines. I converted the image to a high contrast black and white, the building is really quite dirty and the black and white reduced the amount of dirt that can be seen in the image.
yesterday was a busy day – we started at the World Trade Center. Before visiting the site of the memorial pools we went to the ticket center, where there is lots of information, videos, pictures, and stories of the day and lives that were changed forever. the site takes a while to get into – lots of security, and volunteers to answer questions.
A winter storm warning has been issued for our area, read further and you will see that the meteorologist are suggesting that we might get between 2 – 4 cm of snow. I am not sure if 2 – 4 cm of snow is so much snow that we need a “storm warning” after all it is winter in Calgary, and part of our lifestyle, sweeping snow off the car.
It will be a great day for pictures if I can find time from work to get out there!
This is a quiet little pedestrian bridge on the east side of Prince’s Island Park, that it seems, very few people know about. Princess Island park is linked to Eau Claire and downtown Calgary with three bridges. There is currently one bridge connecting Princess Island to Calgary’s northwest communities and Memorial Drive, but that is soon to change.
It was a great fall morning, water was still and the clouds were perfect! You know that when your day starts like this it is going to be a good day.
Sunday morning, sunrise in Calgary. Walking over the Prince’s Island bridge you are looking south in to downtown Calgary, the business towers of Calgary glowing from the sunrise light. If I worked downtown this would be a great route to walk in the morning!
My goal this month is to find as many great sunrise views of downtown Calgary before it gets too cold! I am hoping the weather holds, wish me luck!
This image and others are available for viewing and purchase by hoping over the gallery. Let me know if you visit!
